re You an MLM Junkie? An Opportunity Seeker?
You are searching online for the best opportunity out there. One that requires autoship, personal volume, pays great money, only requires minimal amount of your time, in the comfort of your own home. Even better, you can start earning money today, and get paid as early as next week! And 30 days later, you are well on your way of earning five or six-figure income!
As an opportunity seeker, you felt you did your research because you checked the BBB, and it all checked out. The price to start was small, so why not right? You give the company your information, set up your profile, and start reading. You are so excited and can't wait to tell everyone about what you're doing!
Well...uhh...maybe not...because you already told them about the lotion company you started last year...but quit because they didn't pay you the amount you thought they would your first two weeks......or the weight loss company you tried..b/c well, you didn't lose any weight, and you couldn't get anyone to purchase the overpriced bottle of diet pills....that second health and wellness company because the first one had autoship that was too high, and the other one, well, you didn't use most of the stuff that was delivered to you every month.
Oh...and you don't want to share with them the new survey-paid company you started because the last three didn't pay enough to buy a McDonalds meal...(that is what the 5 people that quit told you)...
Remember that candy you tried to sell? You told your colleagues that that was the LAST company that you were going to introduce them too, you promise, but that opportunity was IT, it was the GOLD MINE they all have been waiting for.
So back to that company that promises 5 or 6-figures in a month. It shows you how to share the products to people online, but wait - if you share it with other people and then they share and then.....you will get all this money. You are pumped, you think you see the value, and start promoting ASAP.
THEN
"Hey *Becky, I thought you were with XYZ company, what happened?" Dang it . Now you have to find all the websites you have promoted your old stuff on and change the information AGAIN. You have to find all of the signatures to reflect what you are NOW doing.
Since you aren't doing that candy company anymore, now you have to get an email that says becky@mynewopportunity.com instead of becky@mycandybiz.com
Two weeks set in, and you have been slaving away (again), contacting your warm and cold markets (again), and your business is not flourishing like the advertisement said....so now you are back online trying to find a "LEGIT" company, waiting for something to pop out at you.
And then there it is. Another one that promises a handsome residual if you only bring in 2 people, have your products sold, and the start up, not too bad. You are excited all over again, but then you decide to keep the other company, just in case, and the other 3 MLM companies you decided to stick with, just in case.
Why do I know? I was that person. It's okay to test the waters, while searching for your niche. But when you do, you have to be careful. How will you increase your credibility when you change or add companies like you do your clothes everyday? Not to mention the hundreds, or thousands of dollars lost, time and effort lost, and even potential business leaders, because you drove them away.
To prevent falling into that trap and becoming an MLM junkie or opportunity seeker you need to check for these things:
* Make sure you are passionate about what you are selling
* You are getting a good return for your time and effort
* You can afford to invest in autoship
* Make sure that it's not too good to be true, because it probably is. Success doesn't come from doing nothing.
* Read up, clarify, interview about the income claims made.
* Have short and long term goals. Have your vision coincide with what you are doing.
* Look out for your best interests as well as others.
* Make sure you have the stamina and discipline to do the business long term
* Do EXTENSIVE research, if you have doubts.
* What are your hobbies? What do you like to do? What brings you joy? Find a business that compliments that, and pays you for it.
* Become a product of your product.
Much much more.
When I joined my business, I made sure to do what I would in leisure, and then let that work in my favor.
What kind of person do you think you are?
Until next time....
*Becky is used as an example, and not an actual MLM junkie
